1. Acceptance

By accessing lanternscleverpocket.lat you agree to these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site. These terms apply alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

2. Who publishes this site

3. What this site is — and is not

This is an editorial travel magazine. We are not a travel agency, tour operator, booking platform or licensed adviser. We do not sell transport, accommodation, insurance or tickets, we take no commission on any booking you make, and we hold no client funds.

Nothing on this site constitutes professional advice of any kind, including legal, medical, immigration, financial or safety advice. Decisions about your trip remain yours.

4. Accuracy of travel information

We research on the ground and verify prices, timetables and opening hours at least annually, noting the date of each review on the page. Even so, travel information decays fast:

Fares and entry prices change without notice, sometimes mid-season.
Timetables are revised in spring and autumn, and strikes happen.
Restaurants close, trails are shut for maintenance, and beaches lose lifeguard cover outside the declared season.
Rules — such as access to the Benagil cave or trail permits in Madeira — can change by municipal decision at short notice.

Always confirm critical details with the official operator before you travel or pay. If you find something out of date, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it and credit the correction.

5. Personal safety

Several activities we describe — clifftop walking, levada trails with unfenced drops, Atlantic swimming, ridge hikes, mountain driving — carry inherent risk. You undertake them at your own risk and are responsible for your own fitness, equipment, insurance and judgement about conditions. Heed red flags, official closures and local warnings over anything written here.

6. Editorial independence

We accept no payment for inclusion, no sponsored placements and no affiliate-driven rankings. Our writers pay for their own transport, meals and entry tickets. Where a place is disappointing, overpriced or overrated, we say so. If that position ever changes for a specific piece, it will be disclosed prominently at the top of that piece.

7. Intellectual property

You may: read, print and save pages for personal, non-commercial use; quote up to 90 words with clear attribution and a working link to the original page.

You may not: republish whole guides or substantial extracts; use our text or data to train machine-learning models without a written licence; scrape the site systematically; present our material as your own; or use our name, logo or brand in a way that implies endorsement.

Photographs on this site are licensed from third-party providers and are not covered by any permission we grant. You must license them separately from the rights holder.

8. Your submissions

If you send us a message, correction, tip or pitch, you confirm the content is yours to send and grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it editorially, including in edited form, with or without attribution as we agree. We will never publish your email address. Do not send confidential material.

9. Acceptable use

No interference
Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure.
No automated harvesting
Crawling for search-engine indexing is welcome. Bulk scraping, mirroring or dataset construction is not.
No misuse of contact channels
The contact form is for genuine enquiries. Unsolicited commercial messages, link-building requests and guest-post spam are blocked and deleted.
No unlawful use
Do not use the site in breach of any applicable law or in a way that infringes the rights of others.

10. Third-party links

We link to operators, institutions and businesses for your convenience. We do not control those sites, do not endorse them by linking, and accept no responsibility for their content, availability, pricing or practices.

11. Availability

We aim to keep the site available continuously but give no guarantee of uptime. We may suspend, withdraw or amend any part of the site without notice, and we may remove or rewrite any guide at any time.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, missed connections, cancelled bookings, additional costs, disappointment or injury arising from reliance on information published here. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Nothing here affects the statutory rights of consumers resident in the European Union.

13. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The version and date at the top show the current text; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. Material changes are flagged on the homepage for 30 days.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Disputes fall to the courts of the district of Lisbon, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection in your country of residence. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
