If you have a fourth day: take the train from Cais do Sodré to Cascais (40 minutes, €2.45) and walk the boardwalk to Praia do Guincho, or swim at Praia da Conceição.

Yes, and it makes for a much lower-effort day. Cascais is 40 minutes by train from Cais do Sodré, has a walkable old town, three small beaches and the dramatic Boca do Inferno cliff. Sintra is more spectacular but demands stamina.
It is tight but genuinely satisfying if you resist adding Porto. Lisbon plus Sintra fills three days completely.
Swap the castle for the Gulbenkian Museum, and Belém's outdoor monuments for the Coach Museum or the MAAT galleries. Sintra in drizzle is atmospheric — bring grip-soled shoes for the cobbles.
If your dates stretch, these two take over where this one ends.
