Write to the Lisbon desk

Questions about a route, a correction to a fare, a tip about a tasca we ought to know: all of it reaches two editors and a very small inbox.

Send a message

We reply to everything within two working days

We are not a booking agency and we do not sell tours. What we can do is tell you whether five days is enough for Porto and the Douro, which beach suits a four-year-old in June, or where to eat within ten minutes of your hotel.

We store your message and email only to answer you, and we never pass details to third parties. See the Privacy Policy.

Where we are

Bica, Lisbon — halfway up the funicular

Our office is two floors above a hardware shop on one of the steepest streets in the city. There is no sign on the door and no reception, because there are only four of us and one of us is usually on a train somewhere near Régua.

Answers we give most often

Roughly half our inbox is one of these five questions.

Can you plan my whole trip for me?

Not in detail — we are a magazine, not an agency. But tell us your dates and interests and we will point you at the right itinerary and flag anything in it that will not suit you.

How many days do I need?

Five for Lisbon plus one region. Seven to ten to combine Porto, the Douro and Lisbon comfortably. Under four, stay in a single city.

Will you review my hotel or restaurant?

We visit anonymously and pay our own bills, so we cannot accept invitations. You are welcome to tell us about a place; we will add it to the list for the next field trip.

Can I republish your text or photographs?

Short quotations with a link are fine. Wholesale reproduction is not — see the Terms of Service.

A price in a guide is wrong. What now?

Please tell us, with the date you paid it. Fare and ticket changes are the fastest-moving part of any guide and reader corrections are how we keep up.
